Dorota racing queen

It was all smiles for Polish Formula racing specialist Dorota Staszewska (Neil Pryde, Starboard) at the Windsurfing ERA, PWA Formula Racing World Cup in Poland. Winning nine out of the twelve races her victory was really impressive.
Dorota: “It was very important for me to win here because of all the spectators and media coverage. The people here really believed in me so I am glad that I won. I am very happy that so many people came here and Leba proved to an excellent race venue with great conditions. I am just proud!”
Proud and radical, as Dorota had shown on Friday: "It very was exciting today! I had a crash with one of the guys in the second race. I destroyed his equipment completely." ...

WOMENS RESULTS
1. Dorata Staszewska.
2. Lucy Horwood.
3. Verena Fauster.
4. Margit Germany.
5. Olga Malysheva.

Test Saildrigger

"Sail-D-Rigger in use"

Help for de-rigging

The new "Sail-D-Rigger" from Australia is designed to assist in the removal of windsurf sails, helping make things a little bit easier when de-rigging windsurf equipment as well as just providing a simple help if two piece masts are jammed.

Windgirls magazine tested the Sail-D-Rigger function as assistant to de-rig a wet chamber-race-sail from a tight fitting mast. It works! The only thing you need in order to be successfull is something where you can fix the Sail-D-Rigger, e.g. a car, a tree, your neighbour's fence. Concerning the second "discipline" of the test - jammed two piece masts - we were lucky to have the drigger again. Finally a solution if sand causes you sorrow when derigging your sail in the evening. But: You still need quite a lot of power to twist the two pieces.
Find more info at www.saildrigger.com.. Of course the tool can be ordered online.

PWA Freestyle Grand Prix in Fuerteventura

Perfect Freestyle conditions at the beautiful sandy and… of course windy beach at Sotavento. The head judge decided to start with the women's competition. We saw a good performance of all the riders from the beginning, but no surprises: the four top seeded ladies Freestyle World Champion Colette Guadagnino (JP/Neil Pryde), Daida Ruano Moreno (Mistral/North Sails), Karin Jaggi (F2/Arrows), Tanja Emig (RRD) went straight into the final.
The level of sailing in the final was very high demonstrating a massive step forward this year by the ladies as they performed top moves such as grubbies, spock varieties and difficult sail tricks.
Karin Jaggi (F2/Arrows) started the final with a perfect spock coming in and Colette Guadagnino (JP/Neil Pryde) answered with a huge front loop. Willy skippers, one handed body drags and a grubby completed the repetoire. Daida Ruano Moreno (Mistral, North Sails) didn't start her heat very well but then pulled out a perfect planing back loop. "I saw the other girls performing amazing moves and was kind of tense but after that back loop I gained confidence and the things got better" said. And they did: She performed a beautiful spock 540 followed by a very clean spock which brought her the win. Second place for Karin Jaggi (F2/Arrows) and third place for the Venezuelan lady Colette Guadagnino (JP/Neil Pryde) who both sailed to a high standard.

On day 2 the final showed the same faces as the day before but the sailing was even better. Colette Guadagnino (JP/Neil Pryde) Freestyle World Champion 2001 told us she was delighted because some of the male riders congratulated her for her good sailing. "That never happened before" she adds and "I pulled out a Grubby a Spock, loops and an Aerial Duck Jibe and am happy about my performance I ended up second today, "it is very hard to beat Daida, she is ripping".
Daida Ruano Moreno (Mistral/North Sails) adds another win and is now comfortably leading the women's fleet in this event.

As the wind didn't cooperate the following days, the results remained unchanged after the first 2 eliminations:

1. Daida Ruano Moreno (Mistral/North Sails)
2. (joint) Colette Guadagnino (JP/Neil Pryde), Karin Jaggi (F2/Arrows)
4 Tanja Emig (RRD)
5 Ann Kathrin Stevens (Mistral/North Sails)

Winner Daida Ruano Moreno after her win:
"I am really happy to win here as I never won in Sotavento. It was amazing to sail with the other girls on such a good level and I enjoyed it very much. It is a pity that my sister Iballa was not able to come but she will be recovered very soon from her foot injury and will get back stronger than ever…"

Photo report coming soon.
