PWA: Event Kit for potential organizers ![]() press release: The PWA (and in its former incarnation the PBA) has represented the pinnacle of windsurfing for over 15 years, and as part of it’s continued campaign to promote the sport and take it to new levels, they have launched an event organizer’s pack to help would be PWA event organizers through the process of putting on a world class contest. Putting on a successful PWA event does take a little bit of effort, but can be very rewarding both personally and financially and, on top of that, you could get to see the top sailors sailing your local beach. Successful events have often been transformed from one off spectaculars to long running classics, some of which are now in their 20th year! The PWA has decided to put it’s 15 years of event experience into an easily understandable guide that will take anyone, from the first time event planner to seasoned promotions professionals, through every aspect of PWA events and provide guidance and assistance at every stage of planning. The pack contains specific information that will help an organizer to plan the event and gain sponsorship. For more information contact: events@pwaworldtour.com posted by editors at 12:27 AM |

Olympic Windsurfing under threat Following a visit to the Pan Am Games, ISAF (International Sailing Federation) president Paul Henderson has circulated an e-mail to his executive committee, which asks: "Can ISAF continue to reserve 20% of the events and 25% of the competitors at the Olympic Regatta for Windsurfing and in particular can the women’s windsurfing event continue to be justified?" There can only be one answer to these questions… in each case an emphatic YES! Find further information, statements and actions here!!! posted by editors at 3:18 PM |

![]() ![]() ![]() "Daidas highest loop / winners: Karin, Daida, Nayra / Iballa one handed – photos: PWA/Carter" Sylt 2003: Daida takes her 4th wave title Daida Moreno continues her domination on the women’s PWA wave tour making it four years in a row as world overall champion. Karin Jaggi finished the year in second position overall with Iballa Moreno taking third and Nayra Alonso of Spain taking fourth. Daidas male counterpart is Josh Angolo. Daida confirmed her leading position in the waves at the traditional PWA world cup on the German island of Sylt in late september. And here is the report (PWA): In the first women’s wave single elimination on day 3 Daida Moreno busted out the highest forward loop of the whole competition to date, en route to the final, where she took a convincing victory over Swiss rival Karin Jaggi. The women’s finals were held late in the day in the fading light but the action was simply sensational with Moreno and Jaggi both nailing some sick jumps. In the losers final Iballa Moreno picked up third slot after a convincing victory over Uli Hölzl of Austria. DAIDA MORENO This morning was quite rough and the girls could hardly get out into the water through the shore break. This afternoon has been perfect, the wind was still there, I was powered on a 4.7m and there were still some good waves. I think, pretty much I am the happiest girl in Sylt right now. It was a bit of a disappointment to go against my sister in the semi finals. I was sailing in that heat against my sister and I think I pulled off one of my highest forwards in competition. One of the judges told me it was the highest forward of the week! So I went into the final pretty happy. Day 5 has seen radical womens action ending up with Nayra Alonso of Gran Canaria against Iballa Moreno in the finals women’s heat of the day. Both girls battled it out aggressively charging the shore break and with Iballa and Nayra smacking close out sections right in front of the crowds. The judge’s decision went to Nayra. Watch out for her in 2004! Day 7: In the women’s wave double elimination Karin Jaggi kicked of the day by taking down Nayra Alonso of Spain lining up a head to head against Daida Moreno in the final. The first attempt at running the heat was eventually called off after eight minutes due to a lull in the wind. DAIDA MORENO The wind was really light and I was on a 5.3m in the final. I don’t know what happened, it was hard, there were eight minutes left in the heat and I still had not made it out through the shore break. Luckily the heat was abandoned and I got a second chance. Second time I made it out and concentrated on my heat and did what I had to do. It was tough out there, I feel happy but I can’t really demonstrate it right now. If I have a few drinks tonight maybe I will feel better!” Final wave results PWA Sylt 1 Daida Ruano Moreno (Mistral/North Sails) 2 Karin Jaggi (F2/Arrows) 3 Nayra Alonso 4 Iballa Ruano Moreno (Mistral/North Sails) 5 Ulrike Hölzl (F2/Arrows) 5 Anné-Marie Reichman (Naish Sails) 7 Camilla French (Fanatic/) 7 Cilia Swinkels 9 Anne-Kathrin Stevens (Lorch Boards/Hot Sails Maui) 9 Andrea Hausberg (F2/Arrows) 9 Justyna Sniady WOMEN’S OVERALL WAVE RESULTS 2003 1.
