PWA-Wave-Worldcup Zandvoort, Holland
Freestyle-action instead of waves
On the second day of the event the wind pricked up, but the waves were small, too small for a wave-competition. Like in Barbados some weeks before freestyle proved it's abilities to produce rad action in these "flat" conditions. In the men's section Matt Pritchard, last year's winner at the Lake-Neusiedl-Freestyle-Grand-Prix, showed the best performance and took first place in front of Josh Stone and Peter Volwater.
The women's final was very close, with Antonia Frey taking first place, Iballa Ruano Moreno being runner up, Daida Ruano Moreno taking third and Lucienne Ernst fourth place. (11-05-99)

The next days offered quite similar conditions: The wind good enough for the 6,5 (men) and 5,5 (women), but the waves too small. The decicion fell for another three freestyle/ultra maneuvre contests. The ultra maneuvre contests with only one move counting saw the ones of Daida and Iballa Ruano Moreno in front, with Tony Frey from Greece showing remarkable progress in doing all the freestyle tricks. Due to an injury PWA-champ Karin Jaggi, Z-14 only did the last two rounds.

Karin Jaggi: "Daida is doing best in this difficult light-wind conditions and won deservedly. Tony shows the biggest progress since last year. Her tricks and moves are a good show for the crowds."
On Saturday the competitors enjoyed a great "champions party" with three live-bands, a wet T-shirt-contest and Josh Stone entertaining the crowds.
