Girls on a Mission

In the weekend of 25-26 of August 2007 Holland’s biggest windsurf event took place at the Brouwersdam: The fourth edition of "The Mission". "The Mission" is a downwind fun slalom event organized by the Dutch importer of Fanatic, F2, MauiSails and ION. Two days long it’s all about testing, clinics, slalom, battle of the giants and party. To top it off some of worlds finest team riders like Golito Estredo, Peter Volwater and Tonki Frans are especially flown in to heat up the fire. This unique formula is making "The Mission" a massive hit, not only amongst Dutch, but also Belgian and German windsurfers.

Sunday afternoon the magical number of 300 competitors was reached. An even bigger surprise though was the female contribution in this year’s event. In 2006 already many girls found their way to the Brouwersdam. This year a new record was set. In total 54 (!) female riders showed up to join the fun. A memorable moment: it doesn’t happen very often so many girls get together in a Dutch or in fact any other windsurf event worldwide. A huge success for women windsurfing in Holland! And of course a big compliment to Project44 & windsurfers.nl for making this happen.
